Another Al, another year, another recount

Where have we seen something like this before. Despite a very different climate, Minnesota is the new Florida.

I'm going to be a terrific senator! And I'm gonna help people! Because I'm good enough, I'm smart enough, and, doggonit, people elected me! - Al Franken.

Yes, even when they cheat on a massive scale, Democrats will always insist upon "counting every vote -- again" until the "proper" result is obtained because "misplaced" votes keep showing up with each recount. At which time, "the people have spoken."

ilion,

I think you live in an alternative universe.

Al would have won big if it weren't for his past as an extremely funny person. Odd how that works.

And I suspect that you are intellectually dishonest. Between being intellectually dishonest and "living in an alternate universe," I know which I'd rather be.

The fact is, Franken *didn't* win -- but the Dems will keep recounting, and "finding" "missed" "votes," until they eke out a "win." At which time, the recounting will stop.

Gosh this sounds awfully familiar. I think I've heard these very words before from someone. It's deja vu all over again.

Truth may be said only once?

Isn't the recount being done in accordance with Minnesota law? In Florida they did a machine recount, which the Republicans were happy with. They objected to the hand recount. Would you just do away with recounts, Ilion?

If the shoe were on the other foot, Coleman would take the recount.

Once again: The fact is, Franken *didn't* win -- but the Dems will keep recounting, and "finding" "missed" "votes," until they eke out a "win." At which time, the recounting will stop.

I know that this is really, really difficult you to grasp, being as a modicum of intellectual integrity is required, and you have long since given yours to the Dems. And you didn't even get pottage.

Is it not amusing, in an odd and twisted sort of way, that you (VR) and certain brayers will object to what I have just said ... and will refuse to see the intellectual dishonesty on display in your post immediately before it?

Ilíon said...

What must it be like to be a member of a political party in which one must assume that one's fellows are dishonest until proven otherwise?

Are recounts always bad? Should we just always accept the result of the initial count in a close election? Or should we do this only if a Democrat is behind.

Evidence! That's what's missing! How do you know Franken lost, except from the fact that the initial count put him behind.

Why do you insist on acting the fool? Have you no shame at all?

VR, you surely ought to know by know that I will not play the game you are trying to play.

Ilion, you haven't provided any evidence for your claims. I see that some Republicans are concerned with the ethics on the Democratic side. And others are concerned about problems on the Republican side.

We shall see how this goes. I'm sure neither side wants to back down, so maybe this will end up in court.

Or, I should have said, you hadn't provided any evidence.

Listen to you!

The Democratic Party is built on voter fraud. This year, they ran the most in-your-face fraudulent campaign immaginable -- so-far -- and you want to say some "are concerned about problems on the Republican side" as though that evens things out.

I have news for you, though, of course, there is nothing new about it ... the Democrats *always* accuse the Republicans of vote-fraud. It's psychological projection.

Ilíon said...

The Democratic Party itself is evidence of my "claims."

And, that claim was that: The fact is, Franken *didn't* win -- but the Dems will keep recounting, and "finding" "missed" "votes," until they eke out a "win." At which time, the recounting will stop -- which is nothing more than a summation of Democratic Party SOP in tight elections.

AND, this is what is just What's happening in Minnesota

Victor, just some additional information. The recount in MN is indeed being conducted as mandated by Minnesota law (206.89). The relevant section (s.5) was added in 2006 and signed into law by the then and current Gov. Tim Pawlenty (R). So any question about whether or not Coleman would "take" the recount is moot. Neither of them has a choice as it's mandated by state law.

I think it's quite likely that Franken's going to end up losing. From what I've seen & heard, he didn't exactly endear himself to many MN voters during the campaign and even though a great many of them seem to dislike Coleman (again, from what I've seen and heard), they prefer the bad apple they already know to the one they don't...
