Is your neighbor a zombie? Is Britney Spears a zombie? (scratch that). Joe Carter thinks that if materialism is true, we would have to worry about this possibility.
I don't understand why we're still debating materialism. Clearly, matter doesn't subsume everything that exists. I'd even go so far as to say that, from a certain vantage point, matter doesn't exist, or, to put it more precisely, that the existence of matter is virtual, i.e., it depends upon us experiencing certain features of the manifest world as inert and/or senseless. (One can say the same thing about minds, mutatis mutandis.) It is merely a concept to which our sense of reality is bound (again like the concept of mind).

"Joe Carter thinks that if materialism is true, we would have to worry about this possibility."
If materialism were true, then all there could ever be are zombie ... and thus there could be no one to "worry about this possibility".
"Clearly, matter doesn't subsume everything that exists."
Tell that to Skep. (And to Linton, while you're at it.)
It's hard for me to muster the gumption for a metaphysical conversation.
It's hard for the Gilson troll to muster the gumption for a conversation?!
Dewd! we knew that.
Who's "we", Ilíon?
