Can we stop the slippery slope?

Where assisted suicide is legal, insurance companies can use assisted suicide as an excuse for not paying for end-of-life treatment. I have trouble seeing how you stop the slippery slope from allowing assisted suicide to pushing people into using it in order not to be a burden.

Not just insurance. A much more insidious possibility would be the government virtually mandating it in order to cut back on social program spending. At least an insurance company can only make life difficult. The government can end it.

How very 20th Century of you, Kevin. If we were still living then, I would without hesitation agree with you. Governments were far more powerful decades ago. Witness, Hitler, Mussolini, Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot... even, in his own way, FDR (supremely powerful but, thank God, quite benign).

But nowadays the real threat to our liberty, our freedoms, and our very lives comes from private enterprise. Government is essentially a wholly owned subsidiary of today's billionaires.
