The concept is relevant to 'memetics'. Someone send a link to Prof. Dennett.

How true it is what Lewis said about having first to demonstrate someone is wrong before showing why he is wrong! I saw this last semester in my Intro to Religion class reading Freud's "The Future of an Illusion". He devotes all but four pages to 'demonstrating' the intellectual bankruptcy of theism, so that he can get on with his real task of showing how such an interesting illusion (i.e. belief in God) arose if there are no good reasons for it. A classic Lewisian case of demonstrating why someone is wrong before demonstrating that he is wrong.

How I would have loved to read that 'biography' of Ezekiel Bulver! It would have been a real classic, I think, on par with Lewis' "The Abolition of Man".
