Everything old is new again

Heard any new arguments against vaccination? Probably not. All the arguments against the COVID vaccine were used by opponents of the smallpox vaccine.

Here.

By the way, have you run into anyone lately who as contracted smallpox? How 'bout polio. Those  used to be dreaded diseases. I wonder what  happened to them.

It looks like as world trade increased, smallpox was spread with it and spread epidemics from the 6th century on.

Polio on the other hand didn't produce epidemics until the 1900's. Wonder why all of a sudden?

Smallpox spread by contaminated items or close face-to-face contact.

Polio seems curious

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_polio

Prior to the 20th century, polio infections were rarely seen in infants before 6 months of age, and most cases occurred in children 6 months to 4 years of age.[20] Young children who contract polio generally suffer only mild symptoms, but as a result they become permanently immune to the disease.[21] In developed countries during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, improvements were being made in community sanitation, including improved sewage disposal and clean water supplies. Better hygiene meant that infants and young children had fewer opportunities to encounter and develop immunity to polio. Exposure to poliovirus was therefore delayed until late childhood or adult life, when it was more likely to take the paralytic form.[20]

If vaccines are so perfect, then why are they immune from liability? Also, these companies have checkered pasts (as covered here):

JBsptfn,

They aren't perfect, and they are immune from liability. In fact, if you have suffered injury from a vaccine, it's much easier to collect from the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program than from a court of law. The Countermeasure Injury Compensation Program (in use while covid19 vaccines are under the EUA) is not as friendly, but still better than going to court.

Also, these companies have checkered pasts ...

As opposed to the companies in any other major US industry?

If you have no objection to infecting and killing others, I suppose you can refuse to be vaccinated. I'm a patriot and a humanitarian, and so I got vaccinated for the good of my country and my fellow men.

Seems like Victor wanted to start a food fight with this topic.

We're certain to see a lot of heat without the benefit of light. Too bad it has to be this way.

He must see some benefit to bringing out the worst in people.

Can we at least look at the arguments on this without the food fight?

Without the food fight, there are no arguments regarding vaccines.

Obviously not. You try to dispassionately present pros and cons of this issue yourself and see what happens.

The problem is that the cons of vaccines are so minimal, when compared to the pros, that there is no real debate to be had.

Good of your fellow man? Tell that to these people. Oh, wait, you can't:

Since those deaths weren't caused by the vaccine, I have no need to.

After the solar eclipse in 2017, thousands of people died of various things. The eclipse was not the cause.

Again, it looks like nobody read what was posted. Nice.

Go on. Believe in Government and your doctors. See where it gets you. As you can see, it didn't do any good for those people.

I read it.

I just don't think anyone is going to post facts and figures. And if they did, no one would be able to agree what they mean.

I read it. I wasn't any different from the usual anti-vax drivel.

Go on. Believe in Government and your doctors. See where it gets you.

It got me safe from suffering from covid19.

As you can see, it didn't do any good for those people.

The covid19 vaccine did not cure blood clots, cancer, or heatstroke. This is not a gap, nor a design flaw, nor anything other than expected. When hundreds of millions of people do anything, hundreds of thousand will get sick afterwards, because sickness happens.
