Murders, justifiable homicides, and other killings of persons

What do you mean by murder? There are malicious acts of murder, there are justifiable homicides, but then are there homicides that are not justified, but not murder either?

Since murder is a legal term, it depends on what the local laws define as murder.

So, abortion isn't murder in America.

Do you know a locality in America where abortion is against the law?

No. But I take it that when pro-lifers say that abortion is murder, they don't mean to say that it is in fact illegal. What they mean is something else.

Pro-lifers think abortion is the intentional killing of an innocent human being.

Is the rule against intentionally killing an innocent human being absolute? If it is, this would rule out killing noncombatants in war as well.

What is your rule?
