I checked out the lyrics on the web, just to make sure I was hearing them right. There are some variant readings on various sites. Some say "Lord, I remember" and others have "You know I remember", but no one disputes "the 23rd of November."
I can find no explanation as to what the date signified to Paul Kantner (the song writer).
My name is David Bates and I'm the co-host for the C.S. Lewis podcast, "Pints With Jack". I'd love to have you on the show sometime. If this is of interest to you, please message us at our website, PintsWithJack.com and we can organise the details.

As Jefferson Starship sang on their debut album, "Blows Against the Empire":
Lord, I remember the 23rd of November!

Listened to an interview with the Moody Blues once. They were asked what their mystical lyrics really meant.
Lodge replied he was just looking for words that rhymed. Don't lose any sleep over it.

bmiller: I would expect you to know, of course. But other more casual readers might not.
Now I feel bad for giving it away. :-(
