Although I approve of calling Pluto something other than a planet, I still think the IAU definition of a planet is stupid! By their own reasoning, there is no such thing as a planet, because no planet has cleared its orbit of other objects. For instance, since Pluto's orbit crosses that of Neptune, by the IAU's definition, Neptune is not a planet.

Idiocy.

Pluto lost its status as a planet because Neil deGrasse Tyson is a mean old guy who deserves all the hate mail from grade school kids he receives.

I thought Pluto was a star, just like Daffy Duck. Oh wait.

IIRC, the notion was cleared or have motion made dependent upon, such as moon's motion are dependent on the gravity of the planet.

Pluto does not cross the orbit of Neptune. It only looks that way in some 2D projections.
