Here we have a perfect example of the difference between "proof verses" and "the full sense of Scripture".
It's easy (and fundamentally stupid) to pull individual passages out of the Bible, ignoring context and culture, and defend practically whatever you want to. It's far more difficult (and more accurate) to judge every line, every word, of Scripture in light of the whole, and especially in light of The Word (Jesus).
Taken as a whole the entirety of Scripture roundly condemns slavery, as it condemns every and all sort of oppression. It declares a Preferential Option for the Poor, and warns the rich and powerful that their very souls are in peril.

I agree with you. Paul classes slave traders among the worst simmers. I think that does reflect upon slavery itself.
