Dawkins seems quite reasonable there. What the heck is up with debate fetishism amongst Christians? Is there some bus quota in churches? A debate attendance merit badge?
Dawkins is an arrogant punk (then he's british, so par for the course). Of course criticizing him doesn't mean one supports fundamentalists or young earth creationists, or even mainstream judeo-christianity. Dawkins chants Science ad nauseum--but he himself admits he not's really even competent with basic modern chemistry. We may not agree with Dr. Behe's conclusions, but he has at least as much expertise with biochemistry as does Dawkins. Astrophysicist Martin Rees-- not religious, either-- has also suggested that Dawkins' attack on mainstream religion is unhelpful.
