Does anyone else find it odd, this new-found respect (nay! deference) that "liberals" seem to have developed towards the presidency? (Though, frankly, is is sometimes difficult to tell whether it's the presidency or the president toward which this respect flows.)

No odder than the new found distrust "conservatives" have suddenly developed for presidential power, when they had no problem with the massive expansion of the power of the executive branch under their Dear Leader, God's chosen agent, George W. "The Decider" Bush.
During the eight years of Bush the Destroyer's rule, the bully-boy Right consistently condemned the Left not for embracing the State, but for impeding the growth of the State when it was under Republican control.-Limbaugh-Leninism
As always, SE, you're a liar. And, as I had you figured out from your first appearance at Mr Reppert's blog, I have no need to waste any time with you. I may mock your foolishness from time to time, but that's entertainment (and perhaps educational).
Ilion, do you have anything else in your bag of tired tricks besides "liar, liar pants on fire"?
The truth exposes your hypocrisy and intellectual dishonesty. The reality is that both Democrats and Republicans have supported the growth of the state. The GOP during the previous eight years abandoned any pretense of being the party of smaller government, as the Bush/Cheney record proves. Just ask someone like Ron Paul, a man with real conservative credentials, and, unlike you, not a liar and a fool.
At least you're still good for a few laughs, Ilion.

VR: "Of course I did."
And well do I remember the blog-item urging even those who hate (and/or lie about) Bush to remember that he was the president.
