What do you think, Dr. Reppert? Is academia more boring than you thought it was going to be in grad school? Do you talk much/have good relationships with your colleagues? He sure does make life in the academy sound awfully bleak. Makes me think I should have majored in espionage after all.
I've always been something of an academic outsider because I've been an adjunct for the last 17 years. But even in grad school I was getting the sense from people that department politics and gamesmanship were taking the fun out of philosophy.
