My favorite physicist quote, from Stephen Hawking:

“The usual approach of science of constructing a mathematical model cannot answer the questions of why there should be a universe for the model to describe. Why does the universe go to all the bother of existing? ...Even if there is only one possible unified theory, it is just a set of rules and equations. What is it that breathes fire into the equations and makes a universe for them to describe?”

That also sums up one reason why I'm not a Platonist. Platonism is just too darn causally inert.

Anyone here read The God Theory?

If so, thoughts?

Exactly where, Dr. Reppert, you should go.

Surely, given the way Hawking's questions are articulated the discussion of any 'relationship' between science and faith is a non-starter? I mean - people decide whether or not they want to believe in God regardless. Only extremists deny science, and moderates just position God 'behind' science. I think it's an emotional choice, not a rational one. The rationalisation comes later. Long live Spinoza!

Has the speed of light always been constant? Is the universe expanding from a central point and if so whats that point of origin? If the Big Bang occurred...then what exploded and what made or caused those particles that exploded? Are the physical laws that govern the Universe an extension of the power and will of the divine and if so to what extent? Can the general theory of relativity explain all observed phenomena and if not what does that say about about the Universe? Is the universe a complex place or a simple one and if drastically complex...then is it possible it all happened by chance? Lastly, when the omnipotent One reveals himself to man...how will Scientists explain his extistence and will they still want to weigh him on a scale and measure him with their instruments?

And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus, and love one another.

HIGGS is obviously not a particle. DARK matter is a bit delusional. See if you concur that they are both the new force of the dynamic leverage of angular momentum from orbital mass differentiation.

PLEASE see my new book 'I R Physics' (www.uprightusa.org/Newstudies.html) for proof and/or peer review. Request a free copy if you cannot afford a donation to our non-profit organization.

Also in this book, my view of how the universe could have only been greated and further developed, even to this day, by God.
