I appreciate some of Wright's work as a biblical historian, but I really can't understand why he's criticizing Lewis's apologetic work. I've read "Simply Christian" and didn't walk away from the reading thinking, "Oh! So that's why Christianity makes sense." I always understood "Mere Christianity" to be more of an introduction, an incentive even, to further explore Christian thinking than as an airtight (if such a thing is possible) apologetic work.
