I'm really curious to see if the law is effective on balance. I think there are sooo many things that can go horribly wrong with this approach, but it is at least conceivable that it could work.Doctor Logichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03182745193512661770noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10584495.post-3891318092333093622010-04-30T14:41:51.495-07:002010-04-30T14:41:51.495-07:00I guess I would ask what the rate of exchange is b...I guess I would ask what the rate of exchange is between effective border enforcement and collateral damage to the Hispanic community. The loss inflicted on innocent people who happen to look like the majority of guilty people is a loss that has to be taken seriously. <br /><br />Vallicella says the Federal Government has failed to enforce the border and stop illegal immigration. He's right. At the risk of opening up another can of worms, the Feds can put a major damper on illegal immigration by ripping NAFTA to shreds.Victor Repperthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10962948073162156902noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10584495.post-80018688789931642332010-04-30T10:18:33.805-07:002010-04-30T10:18:33.805-07:00"it does seem to involve the use of race or e..."it does seem to involve the use of race or ethnicity as a criterion for determining whether an immigration investigation commences or not. Is it OK so long as it isn’t the only criterion, or even the primary criterion?"<br /><br />It's okay just so long as it is the most effective criterion. That is all that should matter.Humdingerhttp://(optional)noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10584495.post-86897747697610687892010-04-30T06:36:14.498-07:002010-04-30T06:36:14.498-07:00Racial profiling is a red herring; if 99% of the i...Racial profiling is a red herring; if 99% of the illegal aliens in a state are hispanic, then hispanics are going to be targeted in any enforcement of immigration law. So if immigration law is to be enforced in a state like AZ, then it will involve de facto racial profiling. The question really is 'should immigration law be enforced or not?' I know what Barack Obama and George W Bush think about that, but what do you think about it?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
